Philadelphia Insurance Co. Renovation

After an exhaustive search, Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) decided that the best option for the company and its employees was to remain at One Bala Plaza.  PHLY had called One Bala Plaza home since 1998 when they leased an initial 20,000 sf.  Over time, the company’s success led to multiple expansions culminating in a 15-year renewal with significant landlord and tenant improvement dollars.

With this renewed commitment, PHLY was seeking to ditch its traditional look for a modern and contemporary aesthetic.  Gone were the endless acoustical ceilings seen in office spaces the world over.  In favor were open ceilings that correspond to circulation paths with a balance of acoustical ceilings “clouding” cubicle areas.  Finishes and furnishings were much higher-end than previous projects affirming the company’s maturity and standing in the industry.  Increased meeting space included sophisticated audio/visual equipment to enhance collaboration.  Additional amenities included soft seating areas throughout and large welcoming pantries.

Logistically, project execution was challenging as this project was a restack/stay in place renovation.  Departments had to move to temporary space to allow for the phased renovation to take place.  In total, 6 phases were required to complete this project with multiple employee relocations.
